College Conferences
Herricks MUN attends multiple college conferences a school year, and is first priority for class members. However, returning class members and motivated club members also have the opportunity to attend our college conferences. We will be attending three virtual college conferences this year and we are so excited for you to join us!

This year's theme revolved around Redefining Justice, revolving around challenging fairness, societal norms, and promoting equality. Delegates debated various topics, from journalist safety and digital privacy rights, to Wolves of Wall Street and Modern Family. All of our delegates worked extremely hard, with engaging opening speeches and creative crisis arcs! We would specifically like to congratulate Melina Apostolatos for winning an Honorable Mention in JCC: Let Them Eat Cake: The French Revolutionaries and Eben Thomas for winning a verbal commendation in the United Nations Security Council. NHSMUN 2023
Last weekend, members of the Herricks High School Model United Nations Club attended the National High School Model United Nations (NHSMUN) conference in New York City attended by 2,000 delegates from over 70 countries. An exciting way to commence the month of March, Herricks delegates had four days of exciting debate and were given the opportunity to create global resolutions to worldwide crises. Furthermore, our delegation was privileged to visit the Ghana mission to the United Nations where they posed thoughtful questions about the African country. At the start of the eventful weekend, Herricks delegates also visited the United Nations Headquarters and attended a lecture in the General Assembly hall. This NHSMUN was certainly one to remember!

CMUNCE 2023
From January 12th-January 15th, our delegates embarked on a journey to Columbia University to participate in one of our favorite conferences of the year: CMUNCE! This year’s committees exceeded all expectations and were especially creative. Columbia hosted a Vought International committee where Superhero dreams were lived out. Their Twilight Committee consisted of werewolves and vampires battling in true rivalry fashion. We even had a simulation of the Cuban Revolution, and a flashback to King Arthur’s Round Table of Camelot. One of the most innovative committees was the Press Corps, where delegates visited other committees and were tasked with writing articles and staying up to date on all the chaos. Along with the notorious crisis committees we had delegates perform wonderfully in General Assemblies, such as SOCHUM and SPECPOL. All of our delegates played big roles in their committees and kept debate flowing with captivating speeches and clever crisis arcs. This year was our first time back at Columbia in-person since the COVID pandemic, and it could not have been better. Columbia University’s Model UN Conference was a weekend full of new experiences, crazy subway rides, and exciting debate. Congratulations to all of our delegates and thank you to our advisors/chaperone: Ms. Graef, Ms. Candalino, and Mr. McManus for an unforgettable weekend!
