College Conferences
Herricks MUN attends multiple college conferences a school year, and is first priority for class members. However, returning class members and motivated club members also have the opportunity to attend our college conferences. We will be attending three virtual college conferences this year and we are so excited for you to join us!
NHSMUN 2022
Congratulations to Herricks Model UN on their achievements at the National High School Model United Nations Conference held from March 18-21. The Model UN team won the ‘Award for Excellence in Research and Preparation’, at the world’s largest and most prestigious conference for high school students. In addition to winning a delegation award, many of our delegates won awards for their achievements in individual committees.
Melina Apostolatos & Tina Pathak: represented Germany, for The Union for the Mediterranean Committee, and received the Award of Excellence
Catherine Su & Megan Cheng: represented Germany, for the Commission on the Status of Women Committee, and received the Award of Merit
Kaitlin Abraham: represented as Judge Abraham, for the International Court of Justice Committee, and received the Award of Merit
Rma Polce: represented as Judge Polce, International Criminal Court, Award of Merit, and spoke on behalf of their committee at closing ceremonies
Christopher Leung: represented Panama, for the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States Committee, and spoke on behalf of their committee at closing ceremonies
This is the first time that our school’s Model UN Team has received this award! Herricks Delegates were selected to represent our school at this conference according to their commitment and diligence to the Herricks Model UN Club. We are so proud of every delegate who represented our school at this conference.
CMUNCE 2022
On the weekend of 1/14-1/16, students from Herricks High School’s Model UN program attended the Columbia Model United Nations Conference and Exposition (CMUNCE). Students were able to debate on topics such as the Yiwei Resistance, FDR’s First 100 Days, and the Triwizard Tournament, just to name a few. Herricks also had some award winners among those who attended the conference. Gauri Dutt received the Outstanding Delegate Award for representing Barty Crouch Sr. in the Triwizard Tournament, Reena Gupta received the Outstanding Delegate Award for representing Fundraising Director in Krisis of the Kardashians, Megan Cheng received the Outstanding Delegate Award for representing Imran Zachaev in A Red Awakening: 1950 Langley High School Joint Board of Trustees, and Ryan Verma received a Verbal Commendation for representing Wolfgang Gerhardt in Wolves, Goats, and Cabbages JCC: Germany. We congratulate these delegates and hope to see their future committee work!
BUSUN 2021
On the weekend of November 5-7th, 2021, Herricks attended Brown University’s Simulation of the Model United Nations. Herricks delegates, including those from its Model UN class, debated and seeked resolutions to a variety of topics, including the question of the Crimean Peninsula, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, territorial disputes in Antarctica, and The Office. While we believe all of our Herricks delegates did an incredible job, some of our delegates won awards! Zach Chheda received an Honorable Mention for representing Eritrea in the Sustainable Development Commission, Sasha Stern received the Outstanding Delegate Award for representing Estonia in GA1: Disarmament and International Security, Megan Cheng received the Outstanding Delegate Award for representing Alfred Tsang in Hong Kong 2047, and Kaitlin Abraham received the Outstanding Delegate Award for representing Lloyd Austin in the US Cabinet.
High School Conferences
Come to MUN Club Tuesdays at 3:00 for information on High School Conferences and be sure to stay up to date with our Google Classroom.
Important Note!
Students taking MUN Class or MUN Club Members earn priority to attend special College and High School Conferences held by schools across the country. But all Herricks students can attend! Compete for awards and further your MUN experience by challenging and negotiating with delegates from other schools.
